The legal services at Lewis & Trovas Family Lawyers are led by our Principal Solicitor, Naomi Lewis. Naomi is widely known as a sensitive, solution-focused family lawyer, and an astute economics and financial consultant, whose career has spanned over a decade.
Naomi and her team are respected across the family law fraternity.
Naomi has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including:
- Property settlements for married and de facto couples
- Parenting disputes
- Child support matters
- Spousal maintenance claims
- Domestic violence matters, representing both victims of domestic violence and alleged perpetrators of domestic violence
- Financial agreements, including pre-nuptial agreements (“prenups”)
- Surrogacy and adoption
- Child protection
Naomi utilises multiple dispute resolution techniques to assist her clients in reaching an outcome in their unique family law matter. This includes without prejudice, round table conferencing; negotiation through correspondence; mediation; and collaborative practice.
While Naomi believes that court should be the last resort to resolve a family law dispute, she recognises that this is unfortunately unavoidable for some clients. Naomi has prepared countless matters for interim and final determination in court, and has extensive advocacy experience. Naomi regularly appears in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, the Family Court of Australia and the Queensland Magistrates Court.
Naomi has been at the forefront of leadership in the family law fraternity, sitting on the Board of the Family Law Practitioners Association (FLPA); the Steering Committee of the Queensland Family Law Pathways Network; and the Family Law Residential Planning Committee jointly led by FLPA and the Queensland Law Society.
Naomi is also committed to maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues in associated professions (such as, accountants, financial planners, counsellors, psychologists, mediators, family consultants and communication experts) to ensure that her clients are as supported as possible as they progress through their family law matter.
Naomi holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. Naomi is also currently completing her training to become a Nationally Accredited Mediator, and has completed her training in collaborative practice.
